He graduated from the University of Massachusetts School of Agriculture in Stockbridge and worked for the state Department of Agriculture for many years, retiring in 1985. He previously was a self-employed farmer in Hubbardston. He m., c. 1945, Margaret E. Little. Children:

      3. Janet P. Prentiss who m. Mr. Cummings of Norwood.
