He m. Mable. She was b. c. 1850 in Canada, with her father b. in England and mother in KY (per the 1880 census. She appears as a widow in the1880 census in Oakland, Alameda Co., CA. with her son:

  1. Howard.Prentice (spelled Printies), b. c. 1867, CA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . < b>[2]

2. Howard Prentice was b. Nov 1866 in CA. He first appears in the 1870 census in Grass Valley, Nevada Co., CA in the home of Sarah M. Richardson, b. c. 1820, KY. Also shown is her daughter, Gertrude Richardson, b. c. 1856, IN. No husband is shown. The 1870 census does not indicate relationships, so we cannot tell from that record whether Howard is her son.

Howard later appears in the 1880 census in Oakland, Alameda Co., CA, (spelled "Printies") and is called Mable's "son." There is, however, a problem in that while the entry for Mable shows her born in Canada, the entry for Howard says his father was b. in England and his mother was b. in KY(?), not Canada, seeming to suggest that perhaps Mable is a step-mother.

Howard later appears in the 1900 Alameda, Alameda Co., CA census, as well as the later 1910 Oakland, Alameda Co., CA census, also 1920, with his wife and family.

He m. Eugenie L. Hickox, b. Aug 1855, CA, and d. c. 1938 in Alameda Co., CA. She was the dau. of George C. and Marie Hickox (spelled Rickox in the 1910 census) with whom they were living in the 1900 census in Alameda, Alameda Co., CA. Howard also appears in the 1930 Eden, Alameda Co., CA census. Howard does not appear in the IGI or the 1880 census. Children:

  5. Louis Prentice, b. c. 1911 CA. Not in 1930 census. Not in SSDI.

3. Waller Joseph Prentice, son, b. 4 Sep 1895, CA, and d. 6 Dec 1966, San Francisco, CA, per the CA Death Index. The SSDI gives his last address as South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado Co., CA. At home in 1920. 1930 census in Oakland with his wife and family.

He m. Marie c. 11920-1925. She was b. c. 1901, CA, with both parents b. in CA. They had 2 or more children, including per the 1930 census and Ancestry.com :
