The following material was published in the Stanwood/Camano News in Oct 2002:
1. Darrell Prentice was b. 14 May 1944 at Mount Vernon, WA, and d. 4 Oct 2002 at his home on Camano Island after a three-year battle with cancer. His obituary says that he graduated from Ballard High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. . He was in computer sales, did house painting and owned and operated the North Creek Tavern and enjoyed carpentry and gardening.
He married Patty Preston in July, 1986, probably b. afer 1986:
Children of Darrell and Patty:
- Terry Prentice. He m. Dot and lives in Seattle.
- Scott Prentice of France.
- Melissa Prentice. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . [2]
Darrell's obituary also mentions some siblings:
- Terry Prentice, brother, of Bend, OR.
- Gwen Prentice, sister. She m. Mr. Thornton and lives in Sequim.
- Darlene Prentice, sister. She m. Mr. Tucker and lives in Bothell.
- Pat Prentice. She m. Mr. Lee and lives in Bothell.
- Linda Prentice. She m. Mr. Eastwood and lives in Moses Lake.
- Gary Prentice, deceased by 2002.
Grandchildren mentioned were Veronica, Elizabeth and Jared.
2. Melissa Prentice.
Note: Melissa's wedding announcement, below, says she graduated from Everett High School in 1986. That indicates she was likely b. c. 1968. Since her "parents" were m. in 1986 in the obituary of her father, Darrell Prentice, above, Melissa would have been about 18 at the time of the marriage of Darrell and Patty. That would make her a daughter of a prior marriage for either Darrell or Patty.

She m. 2nd Peter J. Wold Her wedding announcement in the Skagit Valley Herald of 8 Mar 2008 with a photo of the couple reads as follows:
MOUNT VERNON — Melissa A. Snodgrass and Peter J. Wold announce their engagement. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Patty and the late Darrell Prentice of Camano Island. The groom-to-be is the son of Margie Wold of Issaquah and Larry Wold of Everett. Snodgrass graduated from Everett High School in 1996 and later from Skagit Valley College. She is employed as a nurse at a local family practice clinic. Wold graduated in 1986 from Issaquah High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University. He works as a recreational therapist at Skagit Valley Hospital. The couple are planning an Aug. 23 wedding in Stanwood.
Who are Darrell Prentice's Parents? Darrell's obituary says that he is "the son of Ralph and Jeanne J. (Welch) Payne of Seattle. Since no Prentice surname is mentioned, he might be a son of Jeanne by a prior marriage.
