1. Alfred Prentice was b. c. 1880 in Coggeshall, Essex Co., England, which lies about 5 miles east of Braintree and a few miles NE of Chelmsford.

In 1911 Alfred lived in Purley, Surrey Co., England which lies a few miles south of London. He appears in Ellis Island records as a passenger on the "Oceanic" which sailed from Southampton and arrive in New York on 7 Jun 1911. Alfred was described as of ruddy complexion, brown eyes and gray eyes. Accompanying him was his wife. Their stated destination was Detroit, MI to visit a friend, a Mr. Emans, who lived at 4 Gibson Ave., Detroit, MI.

He m. Alice, b. c. 1880.

Alfred and Alice later appear in the 1920 and 1930 Detroit, MI census as a "Milk Peddler" with his wife, Alice, b. c. 1881, England, and children:

  1. Alfred N. Prentice, b. c. 1913 in MI. Not in SSDI.
  2. Harold Prentice, b. 28 Feb 1914 and d. Jul 1984 in FL (per SSDI).
  3. Thomas Prentice, b. 22 Jun 1915 and d. Dec 1984 in Howell, MI (per SSDI).
  4. Frank Prentice, b. 7 Mar 1917 and d. 38 May 2001 in FL (per SSDI).
  5. Albert Prentice, b. c. 1919. Not in SSDI.
