William Prentice of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England

We found, in the IGI, the following family in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England:
William Prentice, b. c. 1765-75, and his wife, Sarah. William and Sarah had 3 or more children, including:
- Ann Prentice, chr. 28 Feb 1794, Leighton Buzzard. She is probably the Ann Prentice who m. John Lansbury in 1818 in Leighton Buzzard.
- William Prentice, chr. 1795, Leighton Buzzard. He is probably the William Prentice who m. Etty Wells on 25 Mar 1818 in Leighton Buzzard.
- Sarah Prentice, chr. 1797, Leighton Buzzard
Who are William Prentice's Parents? We do not know for certain who William's parents may be, but the IGI shows that a William Prentice m. Diana Dykes on 20 Oct 1668 at Leighton Buzzard.
By email of 25 Dec 2000, David Taylor points out that the IGI shows that a William Prentes m. Sara Bunyan at St. Mary's, Luton on 12 Apr 1795. He suggests the possibility that it might be a second marriage for William and that the Ann and, perhaps William, were children of such possible second marriage. Luton lies only about 5-10 miles east of Leighton Buzzard.
The William who m. Sara Bunyan was bap. at St Mary's on 7 Dec 1772, son of Joseph Prentes and Sara Tilcock who married at Flamstead on 11 Sep 1756. Flamstead lies roughly 3 miles south of Luton. (See our Spring 2001 article on Joseph Prentice.)
