    5. Alexander Prentice, b. 3 Dec 1825, Middle or New Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland. He apparently emigrated to Peru by 1861 where his son, Thomas, was born. By 1872 he had returned to England and in the 1881 census is shown living at 12 Endsleigh Bardens, London, Middlesex. He returned to Peru at some later date after 1881 and was living there in 1896. He was a Civil Engineer He was working in Peru and had some connection to the railroad.

It is tentatively assumend, subject to further investigation, that he is the same person shown in the Guatemala IGI and identified as Alejandro Prentice Riera who had the following children according to the IGI:
