The following material was taken from our Fall 2001 article on "Cleveland, OH Area Obituaries:
1. Hugh S. Prentice was b. c. 1899 at an unknown location and d. c. 4-5 Aug 1970 in Chagrin Falls, OH. Burial was at Knollwood Cemetery. His obituary calls him the grandfather of six, and calls him the brother of:
- Mrs. Helen Free of Florida.
- Mrs. Lucile Collister of Berea, OH. (SSDI & Iowa State census: b. 3 Jul 1894, MN, obtained her SS# in OH, and d. Apr 1974,Berea, Cuyahoga Co., OH. Both parents b. in IL)
- Paul D. Northway of California. The different surname suggests Paul may be a step-brother.
Hugh's obituary identifies his wife as Ethel B. Bryan who may be the same person as Dorothy B. who was b. c. 1897 and d. 8 Jul 1972 in Lake Wales, Florida. In Dorothy's obituary she is called his wife. Dorothy's obituary calls her the sister of Reginald Dryer of Louisville, Ky. Children:
- Hugh S. Prentice of Lake Wales, FL.
- Dan Prentice of Chagrin Falls, OH.
- Ruth Prentice. She m. William Sonnie and lived in Chagrin Falls, OH.
