» The "Pioneer" wants to know whether, if the devil were to die, the newspapers would not eulogize his charactor. If they didn't, the editors would be very likely to get unceremonious orders from some of the relations of the deceased---"stop my paper."

By G.D. Prentice, Editor of the Louisville Journal, 1860.

• I have a scan of a letter from General Sam Houston to a James Prentiss Wall Street New York on 7 April 1836 If anyone knows what business James Prentiss was in at that time in New York, I would appreciate an email. I would be glad to share the scan of the letter and the transcription. It is very short, but it does have General Samuel Houston's signature. Thanks Sandra Smith Gwilliam
