May, TexasMay 28, 1953 Ala. State Department of Archives and History. I am truying to do some genealogical research work through correspondence. My deceased husband's father Daniel Wesley Prentice, was born at Blount Springs, Ala. in Blount Co., I do not know the date, perhaps 115 years
ago. His father, John Prentice was sheriff there for 30 years. John Prentice married Mariah Green or Greene. Mariah had a brother, Alec Green who was a commissioned officer, who helped to drive the Indians from Ala. to another state. Elec. for this expidition was given a tract of land, or
a plantation where he settled. I think it was near a place called Edgefield, not far from Nashville. I do not know whether it was in Ala. or Tenn. where he settled. I want to get the dates of John Prentice's birth and death, also his parents and his wife, Mariah Green's date of birth and death, also her ancestors. If you can help me, I'll pay a reasonable charge, for certified copies of the records, or anuy information you can give. I wast to know more about Alec Green and if I can trace one of the
families back to the Revolutionary War, I'll be happy. Thanks in advance,
Mrs. J. J. Prentice".
