The crest on the right was hand painted and purchased from the Paine Furniture Company of Boston, Mass., most likely in the 50s (click for a larger image).


    1.   William Millikan1, b. abt. 1720 in Scotland or North of Ireland (Province of Ulster?); came to America with several members of his family and settled in Chester Co., Pa. His name appears on Chester Co. tax-lists from 1739 to 1758. In abt. 1758, removed to Rowan, now Randolph Co., N.C.; m. 1st, Jane White, prob. dau. of Alexander White of Chester Co., Pa.; m. 2nd, on 19 June 1759, Hannah Rowan, dau. of William and Elizabeth Rowan of New Garden township.; He died before 1805.

    3.   Eli Millikan3, son of William2 and Eleanor; m. on 29 Nov 1804, at Guilford Co. NC, to Mary Kersey (b. 15 Jan 1783; d. 3 Aug 1855), dau. of Thomas and Rebecca Carter Kersey. They moved to Tennesee about 1810, then to Warren Co. Ohio in 1811, and on to Clinton Co. Ohio in 1812 where they established a permanent home at Todd's Creek (Todd's Fork) in Union Township. He d. 4 Aug 1848. Eli, Mary, and Thomas Kersey were buried at the Old Cemetery at Lytle's Creek.

Williams, 4 children, she d. 7 April 1863. He d. 2 May 1887.
  2. Thomas Millikan4, b. 1 March 1808, in Guilford Co., NC.; buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, OH.
  3. John Millikan4, b. 15 Jan 1810, in Randolph Co., NC. He m. 12 Aug 1845 to Margaret Catherine Himelright, dau. of Henry and Elizabeth. She b. 8 Feb 1827, and d. 1 Aug 1889. He d. 5 April 1883. They had 13 children.
  4. Nathan Millikan4, b. 2 Feb 1812, in Warren or Clinton Co., OH. He m. to Priscilla Christie, dau. of James and Annie (McDaniel) Christie. He d. 25 Feb 1891. (Marriage and wife b. dates are clearly wrong in Millikan book.)
  5. Zachariah (Zacharias) D. Millikan4, b. 19 June 1814; d. 29 Apr 1819.
  6. Almeda (Almedia) Millikan4, b. 9 Dec 1816, in Clinton Co. OH. She m. John Wilson and resided at Sabina, OH, until after the Civil War, then moved to Nebraska.
  7. Pamelia Millikan4, b. 24 Jan 1819, in Clinton Co. OH. She m. 11 March 1841 to David Wise, 3 daughters, he b, 15 Oct 1815 in Loudoun Co. VA and d. 27 Sep 1848; m. 22 Oct 1854 to Ira Kimbrough of OH, 2 daughters. She d. 17 Dec 1889.
  8. Rebecca Millikan4, b. 10 Apr 1821, in Clinton Co., OH. She m. to Josiah Frazer and moved to Iowa, 6 children.
  9. Eli Millikan4, b. 11 Jan 1824, near Wilmington, OH. He m. 5 May 1854 to Mary Malinda Halliday, dau. of Thomas and Elizabeth Halliday. She b. 23 Aug. 1835 and d. ~1884. He d. 17 Nov 1892 near Newcastle, IN.

    4.   Thomas Millikan4, son of Eli3 and Mary; m. in 1836 to Sarah Potterfield. She b. 26 Feb 1808 (or 4 July) and d. 17 Nov 1885 (or 16 Nov). They lived on a farm near Wilmington Ohio, where he died 14 Jan 1887. Thomas and Sarah are buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, OH.

She b. 16 Jun 1846 in Wilmington, OH; d. 24 Aug 1910 in Wilmington, OH. Nathan and Sallie are buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, OH.

She was b. 16 Jan 1868, in Logansport, Cass Co. IN, and d. 18 Apr 1965 in Sydney, Shelby Co. OH. (other records show b. in Sabina, OH; d. aft. 1955 in Washington Courthouse, OH). James is buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, OH.

    7.   Mervyn Manlove Millikan7, son of James6 and Isabel; m. Helen May Pence, dau. of Dr. James Conwell Pence and Lillian "Lilly" May Griswold of Lima[?], Ohio. She b. Nov. 1, 1897 in Spencerville, Ohio; d. Aug. 16, 1979 in Danvers, Mass. Mervyn sold Graham-Paige automobiles in Altoona, Penn. (Millikan Motors Inc.). Mervyn is buried in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, OH.
